Melding modern cool with classical chic, Piers is an immeasurably talented singer and pianist who supplies superb live entertainment for events ranging from to sophisticated soirees to rambunctious receptions.

Degree-level musicality, abundant experience in both touring and recording and a repertoire covering everything from pop and rock ‘n’ roll to jazz and soul make Piers a first-class booking for your special occasion.

Read on to hear about Piers’ musical influences, his favourite songs to perform and what he’d be doing if he weren’t of the UK’s leading singer-pianists for hire!

Tell us a bit about yourself?

“I’m Piers, a London based full time musician, composer, singer, songwriter.”

When did you first start singing and learning to play piano?

“I started piano and joined a cathedral choir around 6 years old so performing was something I did from a very early age.”

What do you love about music?

“I think a better question would be is there anything you don’t like about music, and the answer would be, no.”

Who are your musical influences?

“Growing up in classical environment I loved the composers Elgar, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy. From around 13 onwards, my brother introduced me to The Verve, Radiohead, Michael Jackson, Elvis so they have all had big influences. Jeff Buckley I adored for years but ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ is why I’m a musician. I remember first hearing it and thinking someone made this. This I what I want to do.”

Which is your favourite song to perform?

“At the moment ‘Build Me Up Butter Cup’ is right up there but I get a lot of satisfaction from singing Carole King’s ‘You’ve Got a Friend'”

What is your most requested song?

“Piano Man.”

Have you ever been asked to learn a special request? If so what was it and what was the event?

“I get asked nearly every event to play to learn something special and for me that’s what it’s all about. Being able to put that special touch to things to make it more personal for the client/s. The last event was a girl’s 21st birthday party and she wanted me to learn ‘Danny Boy’ for her Grandad.”

What’s the best thing about being a professional musician?

“Performing as a singer and playing and then creating everyday.”

And what’s the worst?

“Not having paid holiday!”

What’s the weirdest thing that’s happened to you at an event?

“I got invited by the bride and groom to have wedding dinner on their table.”

What would you do for a living if you weren’t a musician?

“I’ll never do anything else, but if I had to, lawyer, doctor, tennis player.”
