PARTY BAND OR DJ?

So you’re having a party and you just can’t decide whether to hire a party band or to book a DJ! The quandary begins!!

In our eyes it’s not even a close competition – we have many a spectacular band bursting at the seams to come and perform for you – you just cannot beat live music! However, we shall try and be (slightly) objective for a minute to help you decide on what will work best for your celebration.

PARTY BAND PRO’S

Amazing Live Band Atmosphere:

Doesn’t really need selling by us. If you’ve ever been to a live concert, be it a big arena tour of your favourite artist right through to seeing your local pub band, you will know the above atmosphere I mentioned. The hit of the acoustic drums and belting vocals are just something that a DJ cannot replicate.

Image and Wow Factor:

Nothing can beat walking into a beautifully laid party venue to see the image of a spectacular band set up with glistening lighting in the corner. This coupled with the absolute wow factor achieved by their top performance will leave your guests stunned.

DJ Service:

Many bands also offer to play music / DJ between their sets as standard, offering a full entertainment package, without you having to book a DJ too!

DJ PRO’S

Safe Flexible Playlist:

A band are likely to have a (fairly) set list of songs they would perform at your party – whereas a DJ has the selection of 1000’s of songs at their disposal. If you are likely to want to request songs from 9-5 right through to the latest acid garage trance hit all throughout the evening then a DJ is likely to be the better choice. Bands unfortunately struggle to learn and play songs on the spot!

Space:

If space is a little limited a DJ may be your safer option. A band would usually require 3m x 4m to get all the gear set up, with most DJ’s requiring a lot less space.

Volume:

If you hire a party venue that has a sound limiter that is set around the 90DB mark it would be advisable to hire a DJ rather than a band. DJ’s music is compressed which enables them to create more of a party vibe than a band at the same level.

These are just a few points to consider when considering live party band hire. We are always on hand to discuss anything or answer any questions so please get in touch anytime should you need us!
