Entertainment Nation were proud to provide acts, event management and support to The Great Run Company for the Morrisons Great Birmingham 10K in May as part of the bands on the run course entertainment program.
The route took in some of the city’s most iconic sights including the Bullring, the Cadbury World in Bournville and Edgbaston cricket ground. Live music from bands on the run kept the runners motivated every step of the way and thousands of supporters turned out along the route providing a real carnival atmosphere.
The acoustic live bands provided by Entertainment Nation were situated towards the latter part of the course at 1KM intervals and were chosen specifically for their ability to not only entertain the crowds but also motivate the athletes and inspire them on to the finish line!
The Coolcats played some amazing live acoustic jazz which wowed both the crowds and the runners and included some renditions of classics such as Eye of the Tiger and Nowhere to Run. From the first to the last runner the band kept things moving and were one of the highlights of the day.
Downtown Acoustic got so involved in their performance that they left their stage area and sang and danced roadside to really enhance the atmosphere for everyone involved! To see how appreciative the runners were was an amazing experience. To play to a moving crowd is not an easy task but all of the acts did this superbly and several runners commented to us afterwards how uplifted they had been by hearing the guys and gals sing as they approached which was immensely pleasing.
None of the bands had any electrical power and so were all fully acoustic but managed to generate massive amounts of energy and were a big hit with the crowd, many of whom sang along to perfect renditions of Uptown Funk, Happy and other top hits to give the day a real party feel.
Entertainment Nation provided the bands on the run coordinator who ensured that the bands had everything they needed and that the event ran like clockwork. There were some funny moments indeed as the acts followed the coordinator convoy style along restricted access roads in their quest to get to their designated areas on time!
Overall the day was a massive success thanks to the fantastic organisation of both The Great Run Company and Free Radio and the willingness to participate from the crowd and all of the runners involved. Even the weather behaved for us with only intermittent showers to contend with, some of which were most welcomed by the hot and sweaty runners.
Thank you for having us and we hope to do more of the same for next years event!!
